Brent is from a small town in New Brunswick. He attended the University of New Brunswick where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 2008.

Brent further attended UNB for his law degree where he graduated with an LL.B. in 2011. He was called to the Bar in 2012 where he practiced law in Moncton until November of 2013.

Brent moved to Fort McMurray in January of 2014. He has practiced law in Fort McMurray since.
